"Phil has been my coach for over 2 years in which time I have completed my first Olympic triathlon, 70.3 and full Ironman. Throughout my training Phil has written my training plans and guided me through the highs and lows. Phil provides on going support in all aspects of my journey and he has a deep knowledge of what is required for each discipline. Phil's coaching is based on his own experiences and his comprehensive reading on all things triathlon. Phil has an attention to detail and my races have really benefited from his coaching."
"I really enjoyed and valued Phil’s coaching; it was personalised and most of all it was about embracing the journey and enjoying it along the way! I loved that his approach was an holistic one that took into consideration not only my physical training needs, but my mental wellbeing as well as nutritional needs. He spent the time to analyse and ask me questions as well as regular check-ins which helped challenge and motivate me as well as question myself what I wanted to achieve out of this journey."
"With a very short lead time Phil helped me prepare for my second Ironman in New Zealand. He provided thought-leadership on a holistic approach to training & nutrition. Not only did he focus my training program for results, he also considered my overall wellness. In just over 2 months Phil helped me knock 45 minutes off my Ironman time and I felt great! I can't recommend Phil highly enough."
"I worked with Phil to get ready for my first Ironman. The training program he constructed was a very effective one that also included my nutrition strategy which was specifically tailored for this event. Phil was flexible in his approach and happy to adjust the training to fit my availability (work and young children permitting) and fatigue levels. This helped me greatly in achieving my goal and I finished the race with a very positive result."
In the lead up to my third Ironman race I was training on my own, training a lot and not getting any real gains. I approached Phil as a coach who had a lot of experience both in racing and training people towards Ironman distance racing. Phil was able to put together a plan that pushed me and gave me structure, vastly improving weaknesses through targeted sessions. As a result I was able to reach beyond my goal splits and break my Ironman PB by roughly 45mins.
"I've been training with Phil for almost 2 years, initially as my Triathlon coach, with my primary goal to complete Challenge Roth in July last year. Right from the get go Phil was very flexible with my training, being very adaptable to suit my shift work, overcoming illness and previous injuries. Guiding me through the whole process even when I thought I couldn't achieve my goal, Phil passed on techniques to help me with stress and pre race nerves. Many Triathlon coaches overlook nutrition, this was not the case with Phil. He is very passionate about making sure that all my race and day to day nutrition was spot on so I could be the best version of myself for my goal race and beyond. Phil's coaching gives you the confidence that no stone is left unturned."
Challenge Melbourne this year was, well… challenging. Now, I’m not going to go into the minutia of the detail, but in bullet-point form: The weather was tough – high winds…
So this will be a short one – and I’m not going to delve too deeply into how my race went, in fact, I could sum it up pretty quickly…
So you’ve just finished a hardcore training camp, you’ve put in hundreds of kilometers of blood sweat and tears. Awesome! The fitness gains you can make from short term ‘over-reaching’…
